8 Days Tour From Agadir To Casablanca Via Sahara
Our wonderful day will start from your accommodation heading south-east. Driving via Taliouine, which is a small town famous for it’s saffron, There where we will stop to visit one of the saffron co-ops and have a glass of saffron tea. Also, it’s a chance for you to learn how to recognise ‘true’ saffron as opposed to the cheaper ‘fake’ varieties. After a quiet stay, we will continue our way to Taznakhte: which is currently a large center for weaving Berber rugs.
Then we will resume our tour until we reach the beautiful Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A kasbah that belongs to one of the most important families. Between the 16th and 17th centuries in Morocco, “the Glaoui’s family”. It is considered a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Its also a place that attracted many film makers who used it in their movies. such as (“Prince of Persia,” “Gladiator”…).
A lunch is planned for you to enjoy it in this historical kasbah. Afterward, we will drive to Ouarzazate, also known as “Africa’s Hollywood”, a city that attracted many producers to give it a part in their movies. There you will have the chance to visit one of the biggest film studios in Morocco, which is “The Atlas Studio”. After having a great time in the studio, we will drive to your hotel/riad where you will enjoy the night with an autistic dinner.
After breakfast in your accommodation in Oarzazate, we’ll start our day towards a new destination. The magnificent sahara desert of Merzouga. Passing through Tinghir to visit the Todra Gorges, which are the highest and narrowest spectacular gorges in Morocco; 300 meters high and at their most narrow, merely 20 meters apart. It is also recognized around the world as one of the most spectacular canyons. After a short walk around the immense cliffs and enjoying the amazing landscapes, we will continue our way to Tinjdad then to Touroug and you will have time for lunch in one of the local restaurants in Tinjdad or Touroug.
After that, we will continue towards our unique place The Irriyation System: which began in ancient times. Diverse societies in Morocco built thousands of wells and tunnel systems similar to qanats in Iran or foggaras in Algeria on both sides of the High Atlas Mountains.These systems are called khettaras in Morocco. After a quiet stay, we will continue to Erfoud, which is one of the oldest known sites. Here you can find precious and unique fossils.
Then to Rissani itself, a very interesting town. Between the 14th and 18th centuries, it was the location of the famed desert capital, “Sijilmassa”. Fourtunes in gold and slaves were traded via caravans crossing the Sahel. In this old and historical area, you will visit the largest local and traditionalist market (souq) in southern Morocco. Eventually, arriving at Merzouga, where you will enjoy the night with an authentic dinner in a riad or hotel.
After breakfast, our wonderful day will start from your accommodation exploring the surrounding areas of the marvel Erg Chebbi. We will drive off-road to visit the nomadic families. Who are living around the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. It will be a chance to see their lifestyle. Also, how they could survive in a dray sahara desert by having a cup of mint tea with them.
Then, from there to Mifis mines. It is located on a high plateau that has a wonderful panoramic view of Erg Chebbi and the desert landscape. Afterward, we will head to Khamlia village ( Gnaoua village). The people of this small village originated in Black Africa, having a close and long standing relationship with the Sahara. Their ancestors were brought from central and west Africa. Through the sahara desert, in caravans that arrived in the southeastern part of Morocco. We will get to know more about them and enjoy their traditional music.
After enjoying the traditional gnaoua music, we will have a delicious lunch, which is berber pizza. After that, you will ride your camels into a magical world through the sandy dunes of Erg Chabbe. With a panoramic view of the unique sunset of the Sahara. To finally get to our camp in a relaxing mood. You will have a delicious and authentic Berber (Amazigh) dinner in the heart of the desert. And a night gathering around the fire with Berber music under an endless starry sky.
It is recommended to wake up early in the morning. So you can not miss one of the most beautiful sunrise in your life. After breakfast in the camp you will have two choices. Either come back to the village by camels or by car. From there we will start our day to the old imperial city of Morocco (Fes). Our first stop will be Ziz Valley. Where we will stop by, so you can get the chance to take some great pictures. Also, to admire the beauty of the valley.
Next, we will continue to Errachidia, the high Atlas Mountains, and Tizi N-Talghamt pass. Then to Midelt the apple capital, where we will have our lunch. After that, we will continue towards the middle Atlas Mountains. It contains the largest forests of cedar trees inhabited by monkeys. Then to Ifran “Moroccan Switzerland”, built by the French in the 1930s, deliberately trying to recreate an alpine style resort. Eventually, arriving at Fes, night in a Riad/hotel.
After breakfast, our day will start from your accommodation, exploring Fes ( the oldest imperial city in Morocco). We will ensure you see the most important historical and cultural sites. Begnning with the magnificent Royal Palace to admire its golden gates and the Jewish quarter or mellah. From there, we will drive to visit the Southern Borj, which is a Saadian fortress built by the Saadian Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour in the late 16th century.
Then we will explore the Medina, walking from Bab Boujloud to Kairaouine Mosque and University, one of Africa’s largest mosques and the oldest university in the world. Then to, Chaouwara Tanneries: one of the city’s most iconic sights. Offering a unique window into the pungent, natural process of producing world-class leather using methods that have changed little since medieval times.
Afterwards, to Medersa El Attarine: founded by Abu Said in 1325 in the heart of the medina. You will have the opportunity to have lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant where you can test the typical dishes of the region.
Next to Moulay Idriss’s mausoleum: the city’s founder. Your guide will try to include as much as possible in your day. At the end of the tour, we’ll return to the hotel with memories to last for a lifetime.
After breakfast in your accommodation in Fes. We’ll start our day to Chefchaouen by visiting Meknes, the city that served as the capital during the 17th century. The main points of interest are the famous historical gate of Bab Mansour El-Alaaj. Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Also, the plaza of El Hadim: the second known plaza in Morocco after the plaza of Jamaa El-Fna in Marrakech. Then a short drive to explore Volubilis (Roman Ruins). A local guide will walk you around it. And show you the remarkably well-preserved mosaic floors and forum.
After that, we will resume our trip through the Rif mountains, and you will have time for lunch in one of the local restaurants there. After restoring, we will continue through the Rif Mountains to reach the picturesque blue medina of Chefchaouen. The medina has a Spanish-style square surrounded by many funky arts and crafts stores. Also, roof-top restaurants and cafes… Night in a Riad/Hotel.
After breakfast in your accommodation in Chefchaouen. We’ll start our day to the capital and residence of the current king Mohamed VI; the imperial city of Rabat. On arrival, you will explore the magnificent Hassan II tower: a half built minaret which was intended to be the tallest minaret of the largest mosque in the world, when construction began at the end of the 12th century under the reign of the Almohad Sultan, Yacoub El Mansour. Nearby, on Yacoub El Mansour Esplanade, is the Mohamed V Mausoleum. Which holds the remains of Mohamed V and Hassan II; kings of the subsequent and current Alaouite dynasty.
Then to the Kasbah of the Udayas, also referred to as the Oudayas Kasbah. This site was originally built in the 12th century and was renovated many times throughout the centuries. It has been home to a number of Andalusian immigrants. After having lunch in Rabat, we will drive for about an hour to Morocco’s industrial and economic hub. The fabulous city of Casablanca. Night in a Hotel.
After breakfast in your accommodation in Casablanca. And depending on the time of your departure. We will visit the Hassan II mosque. The tallest in Morocco is also the second largest mosque in the world. You will then be transferred to Casablanca Mohamed V airport. Here unfortunately, our wonderful experience will end.
